Mara in the winner’s circle, Canterbury Festival Poet of the Year competition

Mara’s poems were both shortlisted and among the top three winners in the poetry competition for Poet of the Year, Canterbury Festival UK. Her winning poem, Iron Wood Reverie and Other Reminiscences, is a recounting of the execution of forty Dakota Warriors at Mankato, Minnesota (the poet’s home state) that ended America’s Indian Wars.
