Mara’s poem wins top honors in 2022 Welsh International Poetry Competition
Mara’s poem eagles nesting in oaks above the bluff was selected by juror John Evans to receive Third Prize in the 2022 Welsh International Poetry Competition.
According to competition organizer David Lewis: “Once again we had poems from all over the world with a lot of very strong poems from Irish and Australian writers. There is so much writing talent out there and it’s great to be able to celebrate this each year. We also had four Welsh poets in the ‘Top 20’ which was really good. As well as being the biggest and most respected poetry competition in Wales, in our history we’ve had entries from at least forty countries around the globe, highlighting just how diverse and inclusive the contest is!”
